Puerto Rico finished in fifth position
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, July 28, 2007.-
Puerto Rico qualified in the fifth position of the Pan American’s
men volleyball tournament with a 3-0 victory over Argentina by
scores of 25-22, 25-22, 30-28.
Puerto Rican Hector Soto produced 20 points and cemented his
position as the leading scorer of the competition. Victor Rivera
and Luis Rodriguez contributed 14 and 13 points respectively.
Argentina had in Lucas Chavez (13) and Gaston Gianni (10) its best
scorers.
“We did not come here looking for a fifth place, but at least we
improved from the last edition,” said Soto. “Unfortunately our
best two matches came when we were out of the competition for the
medals.”
